Why must you keep it? That tattered and broken heart You nailed to your wall.
Some kind of macabre trophy, Monument to your sadistic tongue. Still deriving such pleasure, in Seeing how deep your sharp words could cut.
Is memory alone not enough? Must you see the blood that drips To remind you of the tears that fell in streams From a pair of bruised eyes.
Perhaps you crave the tactile joy Of toying with its battered flesh? Teasing, as it fights to beat Craving the cavity of a lovers breast.

Dont Pick Flowers-crazysingergdon't pick flowers, no matter how pretty they look when you do that, you pluck it from its life force in the prime of its fragrant youth after that, it doesn't matter how much love and nurture and attention you give it the petals always wither, shrink, and die, leaving something that could perhaps be pretty still, in some saddening, distorted way. the picked blossom will never mature to bear sweet fruit, swollen and ripe and oh-so-satisfying no, it will only pass out of its delicate perfection, to be discarded when it is no longer pretty.

The more that is revealed, the more I can see through the protective haze that floats like a residue on the reflective surface of your eyes. And you sound so righteous and justified, standing on a mountain of hypocrisy, letting all the blame trickle down on me, as I try so hard to drag myself out from the muddy trenches of disillusion and doubt.

Yes! AT LONG LAST! I have decided that it is time for another contest! Please see below for details!

CONTESTS

I've decided to do something a little different this time around. So I picked out a picture from my gallery. The picture is here:

So here's what you do!

Rules
1. You MUST be a member of BleedingHeartsPoetry Club in order to enter! If you enter the contest you MUST vote.

2. You MUST use this picture to base your poem/prose off of. Your poem/prose MUST tell a story about the picture. It can't just be illuded to. It MUST take a main part in the story. (For example...Perhaps two starcrossed lovers met here one night, and chose this place to end their lives and begin eternity together. DO NOT STEAL THAT IDEA. I WILL NOT ACCEPT YOUR ENTRY IF YOU DO. PLEASE BE CREATIVE!)

3. If you write a poem, it MUST be under 60 lines in length. If you write a piece of prose, it MUST be poetic and cannot be longer than 500 words.

4. Submitting begins immediately and ends three weeks from today, which would be Monday, July 27.

5. I'd love to see submissions from ALL of you!

Submitting!

1. As usual, send a note to the club with the title "Contest entry"

2. Please include in your note the title of your piece and a link back to your original piece.

Voting

Voting will be like last time. You will send a note to the club with your top five choices. Points will be awarded by position. For example:

1st-Five points
2nd-Four points
3rd-Three points
4th-Two points
5th-One point
